The major requirements to the entire technological process and equipment are stability of continuous modes and reliable performance, minimum loss of raw materials and minimum deviation of parameters from the designated standard.

Flat glass is manufactured through the method of thermal formation on molten tin, determining its uniform thickness, very high quality of surfaces and absence of optical distortions. This process makes it possible to give the glass all necessary properties even at the stage of production. This method includes the following processes:

- processing of raw materials and batch mixing

- glass melting inside the glass furnace

- formation of flat glass on molten tin

- thermal treatment in the lehr

- completion processes, including cutting into specified sizes, application of  packing materials, packing and shipment.

Glass production (thermal formation of glass on molten tin)

Preparation of Batch

Batch for flat glass production is prepared in the dosing and mixing department on the lines of automatic dosing units, collection conveyor and batch mixers. Preparation of the batch is performed in automatic mode.

Melting of glass in the glass furnace

The plant is equipped with a continuous glass melting furnace. The furnace has automatic system of control over the level of glass mass, pressure of gas medium, alteration of flame direction and control of gas-air ratio. Two tanks above the glass melting furnace serve for utilization of heat from exhaust gases.

Molding of flat glass on the molten tin

Liquid glass flows onto the surface of the bath filled with molten tin. The temperature of tin in the bath should exceed 1000 C. It is here where the process of glass ribbon occurs.

Thermal treatment in the lehr

After the tin bath the solid glass ribbon passes through the lehr where it is cooled uniformly. The cooling process continuous until the glass becomes satisfactory for cutting and treatment. The plant’s control and automatization system provides permanent temperature control in all sectors of the furnace and speed of glass ribbon transportation.

Completion processes

The final treatment of the glass is performed on the treatment line providing minimum loss. The cooled glass ribbon is cut on automatic cutting-tables into pieces of required size. Slitting and snapping of the glass flanges are performed on the conveyor, and then the packing materials are applied. Finished product is packed and shipped to the consumers. The finished product is shipped directly from the plant’s territory by railroad or motor transport.
